Donald “Don” C. Zuber
August 17, 1930 – February 19, 2016

Sublimity – Don, 85, died February 19 at OHSU in Portland surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Salem and lived in Sublimity all of his life.

Don worked as a logger for Lulay Timber for 60 years.  He also farmed from the time he was a small child until his passing. He loved the farm and his cows.  He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church Parish and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Don served on the St. Boniface Parish Council and the Sublimity School Board for many years.  He also served on the Santiam Hospital Board for 12 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, clock making and he was also an avid Portland Trailblazer fan. Don has been well known in the community for his expertise in wine making for 45 years.

Don married Jane Schumacher on May 16, 1953 in Sublimity. He is survived by his wife: Jane of Sublimity; children: Pam (Gary) Butler of Stayton, Steve (Kim) Zuber of Sublimity, Lori (Dino) Cooper of Brookings, Karen (Mark) Kasperick of Sandy, UT, and Lisa (Jason) Calhoun of Colorado Springs, CO; brother: Marvin (Sharon) Zuber of Gold Beach; sisters: Maurita Norman of Stayton and Margene (Joe) Clyde of Winchester; grandchildren: Jennifer Lawson, Julie Schacher, Ryan Butler, Steven Zuber, Joseph Zuber, Shawna Cooper, Donnie Cooper, Kelsey Hardy, Taylor Kasperick, Jacob Calhoun, Patrick Calhoun and Gabe Calhoun; and 9 great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pearl (Doerfler) Zuber and brother-in-law, Jack Norman.

Rosary will be Thursday, February 25 at 7:30 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 26 at 10:30 am both held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity. Interment following at St. Boniface Cemetery, Sublimity. Contributions may be made to Regis Catholic High School or St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Stayton in his name.  Serving the family,  North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
