James D. Alfano
October 20, 1946 April 25, 2017

Stayton Jim 70, died April 25 in Salem. He was born in Rockville Center, NY, living in New York until moving to Stayton in 1978. Jim served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Before leaving for boot camp and knowing that he would be deployed to Vietnam, Jim married the love of his life Kathi Henne on December 27, 1967 in Deer Park, NY. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this December.

Jim retired from the phone company after 42 years.  In retirement Jim worked in the pro shops of Salem golf club, Creekside golf club and most recently Santiam golf course.  Jim was an avid golfer and a devout Notre Dame Football Fan. Jim loved life and especially enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his 4 grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife: Kathi of Stayton; son: Jim Alfano of Salem; daughter: Gina and husband Curtis Longfellow of Alaska; brother: Raymond Alfano of Richmond, VA; grandchildren: Samantha Alfano, Sydnee Alfano, Natasha Alfano and Austin Nicholson.

Graveside service with military honors will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Celebration of Life will be held at Creekside Golf Course, May 13th 2017 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
