Clarence “CP” Gruver
September 17, 1935 – August 17, 2017

Stayton – Clarence, 81, died August 17 in Sublimity. He was born in Welcome, MN. CP lived in California and then lived in different areas around Oregon, the longest in Eugene for 25 years and the last 32 years in Stayton. He graduated from Woodburn High School. Clarence served in the Air Force National Guard. He attended Mt. Pleasant Community Church. CP enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and tractor restoration.

He married Virginia “Ginny” Toepfer on August 11, 1956 in Sublimity. Clarence worked for over 35 years as an installer for the phone company.

He is survived by his wife: Virginia “Ginny” Gruver of Stayton; children: Matthew (DeeAnn) Gruver of Alamo, CA, Kathleen (Willy) Hadsock of Cherry Valley, CA, Lori (Stan) Kimball of Eugene, and Angela (Glenn) Barnhill of Bossier City, LA; brothers: Bob Gruver of Brookings and Howard Gruver of Bend; sister: Joanne Wojahn of Portland; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. CP was preceded in death by his brothers, Gordon and George.

A memorial service will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Aumsville. Contributions may be made to Union Gospel Mission or Bethel Baptist Church. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
