Priscilla M. Hafner
May 20, 1941 – December 5, 2017

Sublimity – Priscilla Hafner, 76, died December 5th in Salem. She was born from the union of Ronald Hatch and Elinor Boling, and grew up in the Florence area. She went off to boarding school at Columbia Adventist Academy in Battle Ground, WA; for her high school education, graduating in 1960. Priscilla was advised to try a nursing career and took her training at the Adventist Sanitarium & Hospital in Portland, graduating in 1962 and thus starting a forty-year career in the nursing field. She worked in many states but finally put down permanent roots at the Oregon School for the Deaf and Oregon School for the Blind in Salem.

Priscilla married the love of her life, Michael Hafner, on July 1, 1979 on the bank of Woahink Lake in Dunes City. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies and loved visiting with people. Priscilla enjoyed animals, especially her cats, and going to swap meets, flea markets, car shows, camping and hunting. She was a compassionate and outgoing person who would do anything and everything for you if she could.

Priscilla had unconditional love for her husband and children, traveling and supporting them throughout their life’s adventures. For over 60 years, Priscilla also enjoyed singing at weddings, picnics, anniversaries, funerals, reunions, and school plays while her brother, Donald played the piano. She fought polycystic kidney disease for many years, with the last four years being on dialysis.

She is survived by her husband: Michael of Sublimity; children: Karl Olson of Montana, Marcie Olson of Oregon and Chris Hafner of Seattle, WA; brothers: Ted Hatch of Merlin, Bill Heisler of Highland, CA, Robert Heisler of Florence and Jack Heisler of the Philippines: sister; Connie Smith of Merlin; sisters-in-law: Sue Karnosh of Salem and Jeannette Butler of Stayton; nephews: Jason and David; niece: Julie; and grandnieces: Jessica, Brianna, Samantha and Abigail. Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Hatch.

A Celebration of Life will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at Anthony Hall in Sublimity from 11 am until 3 pm. A private family interment will be in Pacific Sunset Cemetery in Florence. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
