Laura Jean Lulay
July 1, 1929 – December 26, 2017


Salem - Laura Jean Lulay passed from this life to eternal life 12/26/17 peacefully surrounded by her loving children.


She was born July 1st, 1929 to Lawrence and Cecilia Wurdinger in Olds, Alberta Canada. With her twin brother, Lawrence they became part of a large family which included Brother: Ralph; sisters: Monica Steffens, Edna GrosJaques, Shirley Griener; brother: Howard, and sister, Marge, all greeted her at heaven’s door except for her twin.


Her family moved to Mt Angel after leaving Canada and she spent her formative years there and met and married the love of her life, Francis. They married on Sept 25, 1948, at which time they started a family and a business.


She was a devoted mother to her 11 Children. Karen Thomas(Rick), Deloris Boitz(deceased), Elaine, Alan(Lori), Gail Koenig(David), Peggy Wietman(Mark), Steven (Ronelle), Melvin, Lori Hartman(Kevin), Frances(Kristy) and Sharon Lulay, she has 34 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.


While raising their family they owned and operated North Santiam Sand and Gravel. They had a busy social life that went along with their business. They were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mt Angel and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton. Jean was a homemaker where she canned all through the season and she loved sewing, golfing, and playing cards. She and Francis loved fishing on their boat “The Laura Jean” and she lived a full life and was loved by many.


Recitation of Rosary will be on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Angel. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mt. Angel. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
