– Michael, 65, died February 3 in Portland. He was born in Salem,
growing up in the Mill City, Lyons area and graduating from
Stayton High School in 1971. He served in the US Navy during
the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the navy he made a
coast to coast trip on his motorcycle before settling in
Portland. Michael worked as an electronics technician at
Tektronics for over 30 years.
His interests included
gardening, cooking, astronomy, motorcycles, the outdoors and
working with stained glass. He enjoyed bowling and was a
member of a league in Portland where he made many lifelong
friends. Michael loved music and over the years collected many
instruments, learning to play some, his favorite being the
piano. In later years Michael enjoyed spending time with
family playing dice and other games having no mercy on even
the youngest of opponents. Michael will be remembered by
his family as a loving son, brother and uncle, his presence
will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his sister:
Sharlene (Larry) Larimer of Stayton and was very close to his
nieces and nephew: Mandi Atiyeh, Chuck Larimer and Michelle
Cole – Saunders. Michael was preceded in death by father
Burnett Cole, mother Audrey Price and brother, Brent Cole.

that provided the wonderful care for Michael. A private family
