Stayton – Alice,
98, died Wednesday, October 24 in Albany. She was born in
Hamilton, MT, and lived most of her life in Oregon. Alice
graduated from Aumsville High School and taught tap dancing
while in high school for 2 years. She married Clyde Hilton on
May 11, 1941 in Grants Pass. Alice and Clyde farmed for many
years in West Stayton. She was always working at different
things, as a candy striper at the hospital, served as the
first cub scout leader in the West Stayton area,
secretary-treasurer of the West Stayton Community Club (PTA),
organized carnivals and talent shows, took part in plays
presented at 3 different schools, and was a mentor and
caregiver to others for many years.
Alice was a member of
Stayton First Baptist Church/Foothills Church for over 70
years, and was very involved in the church and taught Sunday
School. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, flowers,
crafts and had an unconditional love for family and friends.
Alice is survived by her husband, Clyde of Stayton; son: Dan
(Bertha) Hilton of Redmond; brother: Jim Davenport of Camino
Island, WA; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her son, Doug and numerous brothers and sisters.
service will be Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at
Foothills Church in Stayton. Private inurnment will be in Lone
Oak Cemetery Columbarium in Stayton. Contributions may be made
to the Union Gospel Mission in Salem. Serving the family, North
