Douglas Rahn Hoerth

Douglas Rahn Hoerth, age 70, died January 29 in Clackamas, Oregon. He was born in Ipswich, South Dakota, and grew up in Herreid, South Dakota. He graduated from Herreid High School and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended Oregon Technical Institute and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in Technology. He had a life-long interest in juke boxes and coin amusement devices, and he was very talented in restoring older machines. He was very knowledgeable about Persian Carpets and that was his business for many years. He was a good cook and bread maker and often shared recipes. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and surfing the net. He enjoyed books and was very well read and loved history, Native American culture, guns, shooting and South Dakota background! He loved the prospect of gold mining.

He is survived by his loving companion, Cathy Rothert and his 2 sisters: Margaret (Edwin) Dowding of Keizer, OR, Natalie Wisdahl of Mayo, FL, and his 2 brothers: Shawn (Penny) Hoerth of Boring, OR and Glenn Hoerth of Boring, OR. He is also survived by three children of whom he was very proud: Eugene (Cheri) Saburi of Seattle, Christina Scholtz (Carter Jorgensen) of Seattle, and Alex Hoerth of UAE and 5 grandchildren. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Margaret Hoerth, and his sister, Jene Webster.

His Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 24 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Mosier, Oregon, graveside service to follow.  Arrangements by the North Santiam Funeral Service of Stayton, Oregon.
