Dorothy J. “Dottie” (Young) Newman
December 28, 1922 – May 28, 2018

Sublimity – Dottie, 95, died May 28 in Stayton. She was born in Portland and lived in the Marion Forks area all of her life. Dottie graduated from Detroit High School and attended Oregon State University. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. Dottie owned and operated Marion Forks Restaurant for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Newman on November 30, 2010, and also her brother, Robert Young. Dottie enjoyed crocheting, watching ice skating and the Blazers and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by children: James (Susan) Morgan of Aumsville, Susanne (Myles) McMillan of Aumsville and Edward “Ted” (Anita) Johnson of Gates; sister-in-law: FloRetta Young of Sublimity and family; grandchildren: Josh, Darci (Brian), Amber (Aaron), Leah (Bob), Sheila (Jeremy), Austin (Kim) & Ben (Crystal); great-grandchildren: Makiah, Jenna, Caitlyn, Nova, Logan, Evan, Kendall, Tyson, Hudsen, Spencer, Violet, Liam & Rae, and a surrogate grandmother to many.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Mill City High School. Reception following at the Mill City Eagles Lodge. In lieu of flowers contributions may be accepted for Idanha/Detroit Food Pantry or Mill City Food Bank in care of North Santiam Funeral Service 224 N.
