Eleanor B. (Gorman) Hall Schwindt
March 4, 1933 – September 15, 2018

Sublimity – Named for First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, born on the day President Franklin Roosevelt was inaugurated, Eleanor, 85, died September 15 in Salem. She was born in Timber Lake,  South Dakota and spent much of her youth throughout the Willamette Valley, graduating from St. Boniface High School in 1951. After high school, she worked for the State of Oregon for the Department of Transportation until she married Elwood Hall on Halloween, October 31, 1953.

Elwood’s employment with Dole Pineapple resulted in several work relocations. The couple first moved to San Jose, CA, where their four children were born. In 1967, the entire Hall family moved to New Jersey, and in 1974, Elwood was again transferred back to San Jose, where they lived till his retirement in 1989. That year, they were finally able to return to their beloved Oregon. Eventually, the entire Hall family relocated to the Pacific Northwest and the couple was able to live close to their children and grandchildren. Elwood preceded her in death on March 7, 1995.

Eleanor later married Fred Schwindt in 2006, and he also preceded her in death in 2017. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Santiam Hospital Auxiliary. Eleanor and her first husband, Elwood would assist with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and crossword puzzles.

Eleanor is survived by children: Judell “Julie” (Leon) Adams of Sublimity, Jeff (Diane) Hall of Sublimity, Joe (Leah) Hall of Orchards, WA, and Janell “Jan” (John) Valdez of Salem; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, five brothers and a great-grandson, Everrett.

Recitation of Rosary will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at 7:00 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00 am both at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Sublimity. Contributions may be made to the St. Boniface Altar Society Prayer Garden. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
