Yuma, AZ –
Clarence Ward Slover of Yuma, AZ passed away peacefully
at home on April 5, 2018 at the age of 100. At his bedside
were part of his family. Ward was born November 23, 1917 in
Pleasanton, IA. He graduated from Pleasanton High School in
1936. Ward moved to Oregon with his parents after graduating.
He did farm work, logging, log truck driving, while owning his
own logging equipment. Ward then went to work for Linn County
Road Department as a heavy equipment operator, prior to
working for the State of Oregon where he retired in 1981.
was a Charter Member of the Mill City Eagles Lodge 3384, and a
member of the Elks Lodge 2472 in Keizer. Ward helped organize
the Scio Saddle Club while being a life member of the Linn
County Sheriff’s Posse. He was a volunteer fireman with the
Lyons Rural Fire District and was also a 4-H leader for
Ward is survived by his loving wife: Lois;
daughters: Diana, Janice, Sheryl (Rollo), Linda (Darell), and
Jeanne (John); step-daughter: Sue (David); step-sons: George (Carolynne)
and Charlie (Debbie); 15 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and many
nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Alva E. and Olive V. Slover, brothers: Arthur (Ruby)
and Raymond (Maxine) and son-in-law: Donald Bidwell.
services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1:00 pm
– 3:00 pm at the Oddfellows Hall, 183 N. Third Avenue,
