Jay Hugh Foster
July 13, 1938 – August 9, 2019

Stayton – Jay, 81, was born on July 13, 1938 in Los Angeles, CA and died on August 9, in Salem.

Jay grew up and became the bicycle mechanic in his families’ bicycle shop, Foster’s Cyclery in Los Angeles, and later Bike-Rite in El Monte. In 1955 he joined the Air Force, and later went on to marry his wife, Leona Terrien, on November 19, 1960 in El Monte.

In 1979, Jay moved with his family to Jefferson for three years, eventually moving to Salem for around ten years, and finally settling in Stayton for over twenty years. He worked as a mechanic at Norpac for 19 years becoming a member of the Local Teamsters Union #670.

Jay loved bowling, playing baseball, football, basketball, softball, and golfed in the Green Bean Open every year. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and was also apart of the Elks Lodge. Jay was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and RosaLee Foster; and his brother-in-law, Dave Pulver. He is survived by his wife, Leona; his brother, Gregory (Pati) Foster; his sister, Dovie Pulver; his children Rocksie (Terry) Rosen of Salem, and Connie (Joseph) King of Dallas; four grandsons, and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Anthony Hall in Sublimity. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital, the Knight Cancer Institute, or Habitat for Humanity. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
