Eric Scott Harrison
October 21, 1984 - April 16, 2019

Eric Scott Harrison was born on October 21, 1984 at Salem, Hospital to Debra Oakes and William Harrison. Eric grew up in the Aumsville area and attended Cascade schools. As a toddler Eric enjoyed Curious George and Pee Wee Herman. When he was younger he loved to watch WWF and some of his favorite wrestlers were Hulk Hogan, Jake the Snake and Andre the Giant. Eventually Eric lost interest in wrestling and became obsessed with basketball. Starting in 4th grade Eric began to play and became a pretty good player. He also became the Blazerís #1 fan. Even up until the last days of his life, Eric had planned to watch his Blazers. He would have been so excited to know that they beat Oklahoma City. The Trail Blazers surrounded his room, his clothes and occupied his time- there was no bigger fan than Eric!

In addition to playing basketball he also collected basketball cards and enjoyed the sports comradery with his cousins. Besides basketball Eric loved his chiweenie dog, he had the biggest heart for animals and Brina brought him lots of joy. Eric also placed a lot of importance on spending time with his friends, they meant a lot to him and he made many close relationships over the years. What many people may have not known about Eric was that he was incredibly artistic- he would help his father design jewelry. They would sit down together and decide which stones would look best in the different settings. Eric was very creative and often just enjoyed the simple things in life. One of those things was picking wild flowers. In lieu of flowers his family suggests you bring wild flowers to his celebration of life because Eric would have loved that as he always appreciated nature.

Eric also loved music and some of his favorite artists were Camillionaire, Kanye West, Machine Gun Kelly and Drake. Most recently he loved Ford trucks and fast cars.  At age 20 Eric was diagnosed with Hodgkinís Lymphoma. After his diagnosis he underwent a bone marrow transplant and spent 11 weeks at OHSU recuperating from the treatment. He endured all the hospitals, treatments and appointments for 14 years. Eric definitely had his struggles in life but throughout all of it- he remained brave and vigilant.  He looked to the people he loved to help him get through some of the most difficult times. One of those people that he greatly cared for was his longtime partner Debra Powell and her children Jordan and Jasmyn. He enjoyed having them as part of his life and looked to her children as his own.

Ericís best days were spent with family, friends and most likely watching the Blazers win, which are all the things he would want you to remember about him. His fight with cancer came to an end on April 16, 2019 at Salem Hospital at age 34; he was surrounded by the love of his family.

Eric is survived by his mother, Debra Oakes; father, Bill and Linda Harrison; sister, Jodi and Josh Harrison-Foster; grandparents, Gene and Norm Oakes, Rod and Simone Harrison; aunts and uncles, Rodney Harrison, Karen Oakes, Ken and Leslie Tennies, Kevin and Cindy Johnson; cousins, Ken Tennies, Jacob Tennies, Tyler Johnson, Bailey Johnson, Omar Oakes, Matthew Clark and Devon Allen in addition to his nephew, Payton Blair.

A visitation will be held at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon on Friday April 26, 2019 starting at 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm. Please leave online condolences at
