Danny Ray Hilton
January 17, 1947 April 21, 2019

Redmond - Danny passed away Easter Sunday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 72. He was born in Salem and grew up in West Stayton, where he spent most of his childhood. Danny graduated from Cascade Union High School in 1965. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and received an honorable discharge. Danny married Bertha Harp in November that same year. He worked for the state forest service for a short period, and with his father, Clyde, on the family farm where they raised beans and corn. Danny also worked for Pafco MFG. as a welder/fitter in the 1970s and 80s where he was instrumental in the construction of the I-205 bridge linking Oregon and Washington. He served as president of the school board for West Stayton Elementary.

Danny loved the country life, fishing, hunting and travel. He coached T-ball and little league baseball leading to more than one championship. Danny and his wife Bertha moved to Central Oregon in 1990, where he built his family a house. He worked in construction and later managed a horse ranch as well as working on a cattle ranch until he retired in 2009.

Danny had 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Alice and brother Doug. Dan is survived by his father Clyde of Stayton, wife Bertha of Redmond, daughter Annette Winkler of La Pine, sons Don Hilton of Redmond and Rick Hilton of Madras.

A celebration of life service will be held on May 18th, at 11AM at the Stayton Community Center 400 W Virginia St. Stayton, Oregon, with a Potluck following. Contributions may be made to Partners in Care, Bend, Oregon.
