- On December 19, 2020 after a lengthy battle with dementia
Shirley Ann Kintz Keudell Becker peacefully passed away.
Shirley was born at the Brown House in Stayton on July
26, 1932 to Roman and Margaret Kintz, the eldest of three
children. During high school, Shirley worked at the Star Theater where
she sold the first ticket in 1948.
After graduating in 1950 from St. Boniface School in
Sublimity, Shirley worked for the Santiam Memorial Hospital on
the fund-raising campaign. In January 1951 Shirley married
Harvey Keudell and they left for the east coast where Harvey
was stationed in the Military.
After military life, they settled in Aumsville where
together they built a life of farming and raising their six
children until Harvey’s untimely death in May of 1982.
was a devoted wife, mother and an excellent homemaker. She
loved to meet new people and attend both her children and
grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
She was a gracious hostess and enjoyed entertaining
family and friends at Oregon State tailgates.
Throughout Shirley’s life she was a Girl Scout
leader, a member of the Santiam Women’s Golf Club, PEO,
Catholic Order of Foresters, Altar Society and was a board
member of Santiam Valley Bank.
Shirley was a lifelong member of the Immaculate
Conception Church and a devout supporter of Catholic education
February 1988, Shirley married Thomas Becker from Newport and
together they resided on the “Keudell” Home place but
traveled the world.
Shirley in death are her parents, her husbands, Harvey and
Tom, sister and brother- in- law, Jeannette and Clement Lulay
and stepson Michael Becker.
family are Shirley’s children and their spouses, Paula and
Royce Smith, Alan and Patti, Steve and Sharon, Larry and
Janice, Ron and Kimberly and Craig and Kelly Keudell; Sixteen
grandchildren and spouses, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Along with Tom’s children, Tom and Maureen, John and
Jan, Tim and Kim, Pat and Sally Becker, Mary and Tim Nolan,
Anne and Doug Jantz, Jean and Jerry Hilary, Marge and Brian
Grimsted, Rose and Pete Reynolds and Trena Becker; 27
grandchildren and spouses and 19 great-grandchildren along
with brother and sister- in- law Jerry and Lanita Kintz.

Bye-n-Bye, where Shirley resided the last 6 years, for their
