– Wendell, 93, passed away in Stayton. He was born in
Youngstown, Ohio to Elmer and Sarah Oswalt. After completing
high school Wendell joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served
in World War II traveling to Italy, Pakistan and Japan.
Wendell went to college after returning home and earned his
PHD from UCLA becoming a professor for 32 years. His first
wife, Helen Louise Taylor, sadly passed away in 2011. They
shared three children together. On September 14, 2014
Wendell married his second wife, Irene Roggia, and they
settled down in Lyons. His hobbies included his love for
turtles, ponds and amphibians of all kinds.

his son: William; and his brother: Donald. He is survived by
wife: Irene Roggia of Lyons; his children: Pamela Kruczkow
of California; and Ivar Oswalt of Virginia. Wendell also is
survived by 5 grand-children and 3 great grand-children.
