- Phillip A. Seeger (Phil), 76, died March 12 in Stayton,
Oregon. He was born August 14, 1943 to Albert & Bernice
(Peck) at home in Mehama, OR. Phil was raised on the
North Fork of the Santiam River until his family moved to
Lyons when he was in high school. Phil graduated from
Stayton High School in 1962 and then joined the National
Guard where he served for 7 years. Phil married Sharon
Schumacher in June 13, 1963 at St. Boniface Catholic Church
in Sublimity, OR.
worked as a mechanic all of his life, owning and operating
the 76 Station in Stayton. Later, he owned Phil’s TT&A
in Stayton while managing the Shell Station in Detroit. Phil
moves on to Halton Tractor in Salem where he worked 20+
years, transitioning to Forklift Services when Halton
was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in
Stayton and was briefly with the Knights of Columbus, St.
Anthony Council. He and Sharon also participated together in
Marriage Encounter for years. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing,
camping, hiking, cooking and anything outdoors in the
mountains as well as Central Oregon, especially around
Sunriver and LaPine. Above all, spending time with his
family was the most important thing to him.
survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Sharon
(Schumacher); his children Devin of Stanwood, WA, Randy (Cathi)
of Burlington, WA and Alyssa (Dan) Nussbaumer of Stayton;
grandchildren Jake (Rachel) Reijm of Ferndale, WA, Riley
Seeger of Sedro Wooley, WA, Tanner (Hannah) Reijm of
Puyallup, WA, Cody Seeger of Mt. Vernon, WA, Colten and
Alexie Nussbaumer both of Stayton; one great-grandchild
Ellie Reijm of Ferndale, WA; and his brother David (Judy)
Seeger of Stayton. Phil was preceded in death by his parents
and two sisters, Lois Pietrok and Virginia Rogers.
