I just want to thank you for the video on the floods in the area. Although I am retired as an Administrator at SHS, I have lots of friends who live in the area. I was viewing the video, and all of a sudden saw the area to the right of the bridge where I used to get a sandwich and drive down and watch the water occasionally. Needless to say, it was entirely under water.

I would like to see Dixieland added to the vote list for the summer concerts.

My husband and I would like to help out with any activity Thanksgiving Day that would help others. Working with homeless, serving a free meal etc. Please let me know if there is anything like this going on in the Stayton, Aumsville area that needs help.

Thank You, Arlene Walker   11/16/2011

I am a single mom from Stayton who has a daughter who will be graduating this year. I am searching out scholarship information. I know that Stayton High will be posting "local" scholarship info on their website mostly in the spring, but I am wondering if this info can be found in other places.....such as here possibly?

Thanks for your help, Teresa   10/20/2011

I do post any local scholarship info when sent to me. I know SCTC has a program.

I noticed the videos are gone from the site. If you bring them back, please set them to play only if I click the PLAY button; rather than having them play automatically. It is irritating to have the video play automatically. Otherwise, I enjoy the site.

Thanks, Jim   9/26/2011

YouTube changed so I need to rebuild my embedded player or I need to set up my own player. Not sure how soon I'll get it figured out.

Thanks. You do a great website. Folks came out yesterday because of it!

Usually the stayton police department patrol the area schools the first week of school. This is the second day of school and I haven't seen any police out AT ALL! There are little children walking to and from school and drivers need to SLOW DOWN! If you think you are late now ~ just think of how late you will be when you hit a child with your car......Please slow down.

G     9/7/2011

This is a great site. I wish we had a site like this for Portland neighborhoods.

James White   9/2/2011

The new sidewalk ramp at Gardner Ave. and Regis St is very nice for us who travel around town on power chairs or wheel chairs. Thank you so very much. We would really appreciate some at the entrance to Regis High School. We have to ride on the grass to cross up by the school or stay in the street. This is sometimes quite dangerous. Thanks for your time.

Where are the best vantage points for viewing the 4th of July fireworks? I understand it is now located at the Middle School. Thanks for any suggestions, this is one great website!

c    7/1/2011

Best place to view the Stayton fireworks is from your lawn chair at the Middle School fields behind the buildings. This is also where all the activities will be. See you there!

Happy Birthday! What an important part of this community you are. We really appreciate your accuracy, reliability, and everything you do.

Thanks from Stayton Library.  6/29/2011

Thanks all! (staytonevents.com turned 5 years old on 6/28/2011)

"Happy birthday" to Stayton Events.Com.
Have a great day. Keep up the great work Dave. You have a great web site that has so much information about what is or will be happening in the area as well as some news items. I pass the web site information on to a lot of people that have a computer. The video's are also great, and they also are from area events or happenings.

Mel.    6/28/2011

CONGRATS ON 5 YEARS! SURE APPRECIATE & ENJOY YOUR EFFORTS!

DON & SUE   6/28/2011

Do the local high schools ever publish their scholarship recipients?  I see the hospital ones.  Would be nice to see who got the other ones that are awarded through the schools.

Thanks,
Cheri   5/29/2011

They do not send me that information, or much else

East of Sublimity on Carter Rd is a large crop of yellow vegetation. Do you have any idea as to the name of this crop? It is quite beautiful from a distance. Another reason why we love the Sublimity/Stayton area!
Thank you.

J.   5/23/2011

in answer to the yellow crop it is mustard, also can be seen this time of year is fields of red and white clover.  Paul  6/1/2011

Hello! Very good job (this site)!

Thank you man.
John B.   5/23/2011

Thanks for the construction update notice. I only go to the Santiam Senior Center on Wednesdays currently. Your notice made me aware that I should leave home a few minutes early.

Thanks again,
 Mel.   5/16/2011

The Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt video is great! Thanks for showing it. The Kiwanis club is very grateful for the wonderful community we live and work in! We couldn't do it with out the Stayton Fire Dept. starting us off and the Sublimity Fire Dept. stuffing almost all the eggs or Lisa at the YMCA stuffing eggs for us!

Thank you everyone :)

I haven't seen the postings for "Yard  Sales" for quite some time. Has the process changed?
Also THIS IS A GREAT SITE AND SERVICE!!!

THANK YOU
Ken Lafferty     4/8/2011

The process is the same (click the "how to get your info on staytonevents.com" link for info). The City of Stayton has only sent me a couple permitted sales this Spring and the City of Sublimity does not send me any.

How very interesting that the Stayton City Council meeting has been cancelled due to lack of business.  It is nice to know that the city no longer has any problems, i.e., sewer, water, police services, MONEY that we will just cancel the meeting.  They might even discuss the lack of code enforcement.  I am just glad that everything is running so well.

Ronald Lierman    4/4/2011

The April 4th Stayton City Council Meeting was cancelled due to lack of scheduled business.

The Stayton High School Jazz Ensemble brought home the 1st place trophy from the Oregon West Jazz Contest on March 7, 2011 at Central High School in Independence. The band also received the top trombone section award and Gabe Higginbotham was awarded the top soloist award for the festival.

Rich Dickson     3/8/2011

When is the rotary wine tasting event & how much are tickets? I couldn't find it on the site (it's probably there; probably scrolled past it).

Thanks!  Allison  2/25/2011

April 16. Staytonevents.com is continuously updated. If your web browser is not set to refresh pages on opening, you may be viewing an outdated version that is temporarily stored on your computer. This includes all pages, including police log!

I was wondering if anyone in the community is playing Bunco other than the Senior Center at 1 pm on Monday's.  I work in Salem and was just wondering if there might be a monthly game somewhere.

The Stayton High School Eagles Booster Club, Inc. would like to thank StaytonEvents.com for it’s assistance in allowing the sale of tickets to the 31st Annual Booster Club Auction on the StaytonEvents.com web site. The process was simple, efficient and cost effective to use. We are hopeful of being allowed to use the site for ticket sales for the 32nd Annual Auction.

The people that came to sort food this past Saturday did a great job!  Everything is in order for the coming months and the help was greatly appreciated.

Thanks for making this calendar available for us all.

Diana     12/28/2010

i see nothing about the may triathlon here in stayton.....i think it would be good to announce the event monthly with contact info to get people thinking.....

thanks, p.   12/28/2010

I have not received information from the organizer of this event or a request to help them publicize it.

We appreciate your website, too.  It’s the best source for all local information!  BTW, we’re playing all Christmas music now through mid-day on Dec. 26th – with a wide variety (almost 1000 different Christmas songs in the rotation) and no commercials!

John,  KPIK-LP 102.9 FM    12/20/2010

Is there a way to look at just the newly posted events?

Thx,  Judy    12/16/2010

Sorry, no. New events are posted almost daily on the calendar on the date they will occur. The calendar page can be searched using your browsers find tool. Click edit - find.

To whomever it may concern:
Could you please tell me if there will be any Thanksgiving Day running events in Stayton or neighboring towns?  Thank you for your help.

Deb H.    11/1/2010

I have not been sent info on any Turkey Trots.

Thanks for promoting Stayton.  I check your site often to find out what is happening in town. When we picked up our garage sale permit at City Hall, they said that staytonevents.com would also list our address in their "Garage Sale" section. Where on your site do we find this information?

Thanks, Carol T   11/1/2010

It will be on the calendar under the date of the permit. Check here>> for more info on garage sale postings.

Why don't you do a public service and have each city council candidate and mayoral candidate write a 2-3 paragraph statement.  The voters need to make informed choices and this is a great place to find that information.

Thanks, Billie Walker    10/21/2010

If they send it, I'll post it!

I'm really interested in the history of your area as my name before I married was Margaret Stayton.  I'd love to know how Stayton got it's name and whether there are any links with the Stayton's in England.

Best wishes Margaret Crawford    10/21/2010

Stayton was founded in 1872 by Drury Smith Stayton, who purchased the town site in 1866. He originally wanted to name the city after his daughter, Florence Stayton. After his petition was denied by the post office because another city in Oregon was named Florence, he chose Stayton and named a street after his daughter.

Hi, do you guys have a jobs in Stayton section. I am looking for a local job and didn't find anything on your website?

thanks, Cathy   10/13/2010

No job postings, sorry

Ran into you at the Hospital Auxiliary Breakfast on Sept. 12th and introduced myself. Again, a wonderful site for community information. We refer to it at least 3 to 4 times a week to keep up with happenings. Thanks for keeping us informed. Thanks for the pen!

Al    9/20/2010

You're welcome!

Wondering if anyone knows if the downtown area will be doing the trick or treating this year?  If so would like to know the day and time.  It seemed to be successful last year and our Moms Club and kids really liked it as well.

Thanks, Tammy    9/16/2010

I'll post it when I find out.

Carl Hansen passed away today. He was an amazing man and community member, I first met him on the farm when he would come to the seed cleaner to set it up. He worked at Wilco for many years and was an emt-paramedic until 2004 when he retired with 41 years of service to the santiam ambulance service. He was well known in the canyon and was a mentor of mine and many emt's from this area. He will be missed. I hope the community will show their support to such a dedicated member of the community.

Paul    9/1/2010

Love your site and refer to it at least once a day to find out what's happening and where to find it.  I really like that Covered Bridge has provided you a link to their menu and wish more local restaurants did.  Also think it would be great to have "reviews."  I'm not very adventuresome about eating out or trying new places and prefer to know what's good (or not) ahead of time. By the way, if anyone likes clam chowder as much as I do, try the Gardner House Cafe.  Mary May makes their soups and she does a killer clam chowder!  Best I've ever eaten but available only on Fridays.  I haven't tried them yet but have heard her other soups are also wonderful.  Has anyone tried the new barbecue place in town?  (I can't remember the name of it; another good reason for restaurants to be listed on your site!)

Sharon    7/18/2010

Was excited to see my daughter on the 4th of July slide show, great pictures. Glad she made it on here, although she did give you a tootsie roll :O) I live in Washington although I am from Sublimity, and check your website frequently, thanks for what you do!

Kara   7/16/2010

It's not a good parade unless I get a Tootsie Roll!

6th generation Stayton wannabe, my dad played high school baseball 7 football at the old high school from '46 to '49, before he transferred to Lebanon! Relatives are Browns, Pooles & their decendants & offspring!

Dave   7/16/2010

thanks for the staytonevents.com slideshow of the parade, Dave, it's wicked cool! we were at the sheepdog trial all day every day, so i missed all the fourth hoohah --  nice to have a li'l virtual look at it! thanks again for the great publicity you gave to the Sheep Thrillz trial. it was very successful (exhausting, but successful!) thanks in large part to the local people who heard about it on staytonevents.com and came out to join us. we really appreciate all you do for the community!

cheers, Raven     7/6/2010

Who was given 1st place in the truck division for the 4th of July parade?

jr   7/6/2010

Very nice photos of the parade. The Moose Lodge does so much for the parade one would think that the Moose float would be included.

Warren Kilby   7/5/2010

what is up with the permits listed?  it looks like stayton requires permits for yard sales and garage sales.  please tell me this absurdity is untrue!

menyek   7/2/2010

Like almost all other cities, the City of Stayton requires a permit for garage sales. Staytonevents.com posts the address of all permitted sales (when supplied by the City) as a free advertising service to permit holders.

Just a short note to say Happy Birthday to Stayton Events. Congratulations. Stayton Events.com is a great service to the community. Many people use this site to find out what is going on in the area. If it's happening in this area, you will probably find it on Stayton Events web page. Keep up the good work.

Mel   6/28/2010

The bridge to the river front across the Stayton Ditch that has been planned for at least eight years...we got a bajillion dollar highway interchange, why can't we get a little footbridge.

Stayton pool poorly ran

joey     4/24/2010

i would like to see some info on the stayton swim team by any school and upcomming events next year....what are the programs available for the kids and our adult community?...is anyone thinking of a triathlon event for this town?....thanks,

paul.     4/4/2010

I am wondering if anyone knows of a Tai Chi class in the area of Stayton.

Thank you,
Jackie          2/24/2010

I was pleased to see the video for the Rapid Bridge Replacement project on your site!  We produced that video for Slayden.  There is also another video for the first bridge replacement done in May that year.

We'll have a commercial ready soon for the MarketPlace event.

Thanks!    2/3/2010

There is an annual event in your area, that I believe is for outdoor/sporting enthusiasts...camping, outdoor cooking (i.e. dutch ovens), fishing, boating, etc. Can you please tell me when and where this event takes place in 2010 (and also the name of actual event too)?

Jay    1/30/2010

Check the Santiam Marketplace Trade Fair and Outdoor Show, March 6th

Looking to play volleyball on an adult team. Girls or Co-ed. Love to play the game! If you know where I can play, let me know.

Cathy   1/28/2010

Please let staytonevents.com know. I'll post it!

Ok...so why do some people getting gas at Wilco stop and block the entire entryway waiting to decide which line is going to move first? You are backing cars up in the street. Pick a line and pull up already!

Ralph   1/16/2010

Can you re-spell oppose? :)

Kathy    1/14/2010

you really are a college gradjeeate!

The last city council meeting ( Jan. 4th ) shown on TV discussed some items that have taken place in the city in the last year. A question was asked if partial results of the recent city survey should be addressed. The mayor's reply was no. When and where will this information be made available to the public?

Chuck    1/09/2010

I'm not connected to the City so can't give you an official answer. I was however at that meeting. I don't think it was the mayor who said no. The survey was done by the planning department. When the Public Works Director was giving an overview of last years projects he asked the Planning Director if he (PWD) could give out some preliminary results of the survey as they related to Public Works. The planning Director said he'd rather not have him discuss partial results until they were complete and the full survey could be reported on in the near future. No specific date was given. When finished, I'm sure it will be on the City website and I hope they will send it to me for posting also. I wish they'd get it done too!

In your poll about donating money etc.
It would have been good to have a category stating do you donate and volunteer. Some people do both and that is a good thing.

J    12/29/2009

From the list of schools and governments, it looks like you are targeting only Stayton and Sublimity events.  Do you want Aumsville, Lyons, Mehama, Mill City, Gates, etc events? and/or is there another site for these events?

Judy      12/2/2009

I have and will post events from those areas. I'll post from Turner to Gates to Scio, I currently even have one from Jefferson. I just do not go into Salem or Silverton.

Thanks to everyone who wrote or called Senator Wyden's office on behalf of the FCC debacle over KENC... It is making a difference, just as Stayton Events dot com does.. Great job David...

We moved to Stayton from Silverton last year. Stayton is a great place to live. It feels as if we have lived here for years and belong. Everyone is so kind and outgoing. We thank our neighbors on Virginia St, St Boniface parish, the library, Roths, Restaurants, Wilco station, Red Barn, Bi Mart, Gardner House cafe, Ken's radio, Stayton
Events. The list is long. It is nice to feel at home.

J&J     10/18/2009

Hi, I was wondering if there is a youth soccer program in this town? (Stayton ) My son is 8 years old and I would like to get him involved in basketball or soccer.  Thanks for answering my question,

Amy     10/17/2009

Click the big YMCA link to get their youth sports schedule and sign-up info. They have not been sending me the information lately.

I just found this very informative site this morning. It's great. If it's happening in Stayton it's in Stayton's Events.

Mel       9/29/2009

Love the useful and the entertaining stuff you regularly add.  Just found the maps and Denise's blogg... Thanks Dave

The "Our Town" building does need to be repainted it doesn't bring a very good look to the down town area - I thought we were trying to make our down town area better, not glow in the dark!

Grady    9/22/2009

I want to know opinions on the newly painted Our Town building next to the police department.  The color is terrible!  Maybe if enough people voice their disgust, they will paint it another color!

Andy    9/18/2009

We moved away from Stayton about a year ago, and really miss it.  We will be coming back soon.

Thanks for keeping us updated on the hometown events and activities.

autzenmallard...   9/15/2009

This is a great site for events and news in Stayton.  The photos are terrific.  Thanks for sending it to me.
