At some point in time I remember writing the phrase, "We all live in anarchy until the police arrive."
Why? Because the police cannot be everywhere at the same time; there simply are not enough officers to have one handy at every street corner, alley and every place we, the citizens, are. The precise problem with the thinking that the police exist to protect us. They don't, can't and obviously won't.
Historically speaking law enforcement came to be in this country as a remedial measure, charged not with preventing crimes, but bringing criminals to justice. In fact nowhere in the statutes of law will you find any mandate requiring a law enforcement officer to protect a citizen.
So who, one might ask, is responsible for our personal safety if it isn't the officers of law enforcement? The answer is, we are.
Don't like that answer? You want some officer to protect you from whatever threats you face? If so, you don't value your freedom. Only those who are willing to pay the price of freedom; that act on their own behalf, in their own defense, are entitled to claim freedom for themselves. Yes, the price of freedom can be high, even our lives.
Think the price too high? What price would be too high to give your children the gift of Freedom?
Think about it. Is the legacy you want your children to inherit, freedom lost? Relying on someone else's hand and good will for security and protection will cost us our freedom; and much, much more.
Which government official do you think had, does and will have your best interests at heart?
