I began printing as an aside to my book collecting. It did not take me long to plunge ‘way overboard on letterpress printing! I began in 1968, scrounging all over the Pacific Northwest for antique printing equipment. I couldn’t have timed it better: letterpress was no longer the favored method of printing and the last of the letterpress shops were just going out of business. Before long I had over six hundred fonts of handset type. I even bought a Linotype! I started with a Chandler & Price 12 x 18 press, added a Kelly B cylinder press – and I was off!
