Tips - From Evelyn and Gloria

TO CONSERVE WATER:

Fix drippy faucets - leaking pipes don't get better until fixed and they don't fix themselves.

Run full loads in your clothes and dish washing machines.

DURING SUMMER MONTHS:

In the summer, do not run water to get it colder. If you want colder water (and who doesn't?) place a jug of water in the refrigerator - the water is warmer in the tap because it is warmer in the river and it won't get as cold as it does in the winter no matter how long you run the tap.

Irrigate your lawn during the calm and cool early morning hours - this will help cut down on loss due to evaporation and wind.

Don't water sidewalks and driveways - this just wastes water down the drain.

Don't let your hoses run freely while washing your car - outside faucets can easily use 10 gallons per minute or more.

And, always keep those thirsty birds away from faucets!
