Evergreen Aviation
Symposium Photos
This event occurred
over the Fathers Day week end at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville
Oregon. Twelve Habu crewmembers and maintenance personnel attended by
invitation. They gave presentations to a standing room crowd for each of the
four presentations.
Colonel Richard Graham gave a dinner presentation to the 100+ people attending
on Saturday evening. This event was a tremendous success and again a profound
thanks goes out to those crew members that took the time out from their
schedules to volunteer for the symposium.
Richard Graham Writes:
Everyone had a
great time at the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville, OR putting on two days of
SR-71 Symposiums. Twelve crews and maintenance folks were there to
tell the SR-71 story with large crowds attending each panel session.
If you have never been there before, it's a tremendous museum you need to
visit someday. They are taking excellent
care of 971. They display it with left wing up and the J-58 engine
right there, as if it's ready to be installed. The canopies are open
with a platform leading up to the cockpits for visitors to peek inside, but
still far enough away, they are unable to actually touch anything. The
museum gave us a special cockpit tour of the Spruce Goose, not open to
visitors. On Saturday, Jack Kastien, a
good friend of Tom's, flew Tom Pugh down in his Bonanza to be with us for
the day. It was great to see the smile on his face...it's the same Tom
we know and love. He looks in excellent shape and can in-process 100
percent of what you say...that was obvious when we reminisced with Tom.
He said he would be at the Blackbird Reunion on 21-24 June, 2007.
Start making your plans now to attend as well!
Cheers,
Rich
