Santiam Championship Bull Riding

Santiam Championship Bull Riding

The SCS Rodeo Board is excited to be bringing the “Santiam Championship Bull Riding” to the Stampede. Top riders from the North West region to Texas will be competing for the title of “Champion.” Competitors, Title Holders and Champions, from numerous rodeo associations will all be vying for the title. They will be competing for the opportunity to be called, Santiam Bull Riding “Champion.” When the winner is crowned, they will earn the Title, a “Gist Brand” award buckle, a Les Schwab Tire Certificate, and let’s not forget the prize money.

With professional animal athletes to compete on, the cowboy’s athleticism will be tested! At the “Santiam Championship Bull Riding” the riders will not only need to focus on the animal athletes but the cowboy athletes they will be competing against, that is; if they want to win the title of “Champion.” Bull Riders Click HERE to Register.

Rodeo’s Future

Oregon Jr. Bull Riders Association

Here at the Stampede we believe that Rodeo’s future is in its youth. That is why we have built our rodeo with kids and the family as our focus. We are proud to host both the Miss Rodeo Oregon Jr, & Teen Pageant and the Oregon Jr Bull Riders Association. These two organizations work with kids from across the State of Oregon teaching them rodeo skills and knowledge. They teach them of Rodeo’s great history, how it helped to build strong people and a strong nation. They teach them to be proud of themselves and where they come from. They are taught respect for themselves and others, to be responsible and to contribute to your community. These are just a few of life’s lessons they gain from being involved with the sport of rodeo and these two organizations. You can watch both of these events at the Stampede.

Miss Rodeo Oregon Jr. & Teen Pageant Starts on Friday August 1st and the girls are then crowned on Saturday August 2nd.

Oregon Jr. Bull Riders Association will be holding a two day Bull riding on Kick-Off weekend. The top two riders in each division will ride exhibition the next weekend at the Stampede.

2008 Stock Contractors

StockBullfightersTop cowboys require exceptional rodeo stock. Cowboys compete for money and standings, and to get the high scores needed to win, stock must perform as well or even better than the cowboy. This year we receive our exceptional stock from The Big Bend Rodeo Company, and Flying "5" Rodeo Company.

Brief History Of The Rodeo

Santiam Canyon Stampede

The Santiam Canyon Stampede was established in 1997 as a PRCA sanctioned rodeo. Following the 1999 season the rodeo was purchased by the community and re-organized as a nonprofit corporation. The re-organization produced the Stayton/Sublimity Rodeo Association, Inc. as the new owner of the Santiam Canyon Stampede.

The Stayton and Sublimity communities have a rich civic history of local residents joining together time and time again to raise the funds or resources required to fulfill a community need. Our rodeo is the newest entity to be established for the purpose of building on that long standing tradition of strengthening the community through volunteerism. The efforts of the volunteers that make our event possible will become the rewards of the entire community. In addition to any money that is distributed by the rodeo association to other local nonprofit organizations, we also give donations of Rodeo Tickets and other items to groups to use in their fundraising efforts. As the Santiam Canyon Stampede continues to prosper, so will the sport of rodeo, our community, and its residents.
