MEMORY MANAGEMENT FOR WIN95 or higher

Check conventional memory available first the conventional way (mem from a DOS prompt).

Problem: Many versions of Windows95 do not contain memmaker. If it does, it should be in the following directory(ies)

C:\WINDOWS
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND

- or -

on the system disk: others\oldmsdos

If memmaker exists, run it from the RUN line by typing the path and file memmaker.exe

Choose EXPRESS setup

Set EMS usage to NO.

---------

If the PC does not have the memmaker files, also needed are EMM386, HIMEM.SYS, MEMMAKER.STS, CHKSTATE.SYS, and SIZER.EXE these will have to be imported.

The best source is a computer that contains MSDOS 6,22

---------

Notes About Conventional Memory:

When a Program such as PC Anywhere is loaded, it can consume over 100,000 bytes of conventional memory. Programs such as this should be loaded to upper memory whenever possible.
